The center for Mediation and Arbitration CEMEDAR is an independent and private organization authorized to perform conflict resolution services under Costa Rica's Ministry for Justice and through Resolution DNRAC 04-02, March 7, 2002.
CEMEDAR seeks to promote the advancement of alternative dispute resolution methods such as negotiation, mediation, conciliation, and arbitration as means for constructively resolving conflict.
CEMEDAR provides parties in dispute a safe, private, and confidential space for dialogue, facilitated by one or more professional mediators. CEMEDAR's mediators work with parties to help them identify common interests, build understanding, and craft meaningful agreements that satisfy each party's needs.

The Center for Mediation and Arbitration CEMEDAR offers the possibility that people may participate in a change of social paradigm where, increasingly, through dialogue mechanisms for the transformation of conflicts, such as negotiation, mediation, and reconciliation, people generate intelligent, viable and successful choices in managing their differences and contribute to the development of a more peaceful and fraternal society.
